Movie Review: Cars 3

Cars 3 is a Disney family movie about competition, aging, and finding new purpose. Lightning McQueen, once a famous racer, now struggles to keep up with modern, faster cars like the rookie Jackson Storm. After losing a race, McQueen questions his future and whether it’s time to retire.

With the help of his new trainer, Cruz Ramirez, McQueen tries to regain his speed. Cruz, however, has never been a racer herself. During their training together, she rediscovers her own dream of becoming one. McQueen’s wisdom and Cruz’s enthusiasm teach each other valuable lessons about confidence and perseverance.

In the final race, McQueen realizes that his true role is not to win but to pass on his knowledge. He lets Cruz take his place, and she surprises everyone by defeating Storm. McQueen becomes her mentor, just as Doc once guided him.

The movie offers strong moral messages: believe in yourself, support others, and know when to let go. Although the plot has a few holes, Cars 3 delivers an inspiring and heartwarming story for both kids and adults.

Reading Comprehension

Mindfulness

Most of us worry about all sorts of things all the time. Why did a friend say that? Why didn’t I get good marks in the test? What is wrong with my parents? Why did I get sick? We tend to pay attention to what is wrong in our lives. Learning to be mindful can help us when we are down. It can also help us to calm down, relax and to pay attention to other things. This has many benefits, not the least of which is that it helps us to deal with the stress of everyday life. And less stress means better health!

Mindfulness is the state of being aware of the present moment. In this time, we focus on ourselves or on our bodies. We may think about how parts of our body feel or we may focus on the way we are breathing. When life gets tough, sometimes it is useful to stop and concentrate on being mindful. We can do simple exercises like the one you have already done to help create this state. But there are other things that we can do to become more mindful generally.

Some tips for developing mindfulness:

  • Stop talking, and listen to others.
The Dalai Lama once said ‘When you talk, you are repeating what you already know. When you listen, you may learn something new.’

  • Be kind, not cruel to others. Don’t bully people or hurt them. And be kind to yourself too.

  • Learn to meditate. Meditating can help you to stop and breathe and this helps you to deal with stressful situations.

  • Focus on one thing at a time. Declutter your time and your life. This will help you avoid feeling overwhelmed or fed up with things.

  • Accept that some things change in life and you cannot control everything. Focus on positive changes you can make in your own life to benefit yourself and others. Keep calm and carry on.

Exercise Regularly

A

I am shocked when people say that exercise is boring. It does not need to be! In fact, the secret is to do different types of exercise. If you enjoy nature, run in the forest. If you like the beach, try doing your workout on the sand. If music gets you going, switch it on and enjoy your favourite songs while you exercise. Some people even exercise while cleaning up the house. Walk or cycle to the shops or to school instead of using public transport if you can. You can do twice as many steps in a day, just by doing simple things like this. And yes, track your steps on your phone or watch. Set a goal and see if you can reach it every day.

B

Just because you exercise regularly doesn’t mean that you can eat anything you like. A healthy lifestyle involves exercising and eating a balanced diet, including the best fresh food you can. If you want to improve your lifestyle, you should pay twice as much attention to the type of food that you eat. You could start by eating half as much cake and other sweet treats as you usually would – try fruit instead! You do not need expensive supplements, you need a balance of fresh and healthy meals which will give you proteins, vitamins, minerals, fats and carbohydrates. Oh, and don’t forget the fresh, clean water. If your tap water is safe, drink that, otherwise boil and filter your water before you drink it. You don’t need to buy plastic bottles of water.

C

The aim of an exercise is to improve how your body works so it is all the more important that you learn to exercise correctly. Once you have done your warm up, start your exercise routine. Time yourself and be disciplined. If you need to do 20 repeats, do 20 repeats, not 15! Look in a mirror as you work out so that you can check you are doing the exercise correctly. This is the only way you will achieve the lifestyle that you wish for.
